A New Journey

I began a new journey a little over a year ago, that had a lot of twists and turns to get here. Now, I feel peace and contentment that I have not felt in I don’t know how long.

The journey brought me to a new land, a new culture and a new job. I am surrounded by positivity, incredible energy and supportive people.

I have also found a new little angel. I could say she is a “pet” but it is more like a lifeline to God, from God. A rescue kitten found me at my work, thanks to the ‘cat distribution system’ and has forever changed me and my views on the street cats.

I had a dog before, but there is a special kind of love that I cannot even begin to describe when you rescue an animal from the crowded streets of other poor cat babies. She found me, and I am so grateful to her. It has been eye and heart opening. I want to rescue them all.

I go out every morning with food and water to a few locations to give to those babies in need of help. My mind has been opened by the fact that cats are always and perpetually in survival mode. In a country with very little animal resources and welfare “upgrades”, females give birth on the streets, and are burdened with this solo event, and then caring for them. It is more than my heart can take.

I started doing it because of a Momma kitten near my home, with three small babies. I couldn’t find any help so I started feeding her to help her. She was a mere baby herself. I try my best to help the mums give their babies their best chances at survival because I know what it has been like to survive most of my life. And coming to this new country was the first time I felt at peace, and rest assured that I am finally taken care of by Yahweh.

I pray daily for their protection and guidance to do what I can and for help with what I cannot do. I cannot do it all! None of us can, none of us have ever been able to. I can do nothing without Yahweh.

I know this is a serious sounding post, but my soul has been changed by cats and I had to talk about it. My heart has been changed by the love of a sweet stubborn baby – but why would I not get someone like her, having been so stubborn myself. We started this journey of progression of trust, and safety and it evolves with time. It requires love and patience. And God. I thank God every day for my blessings and this sweet angel who has taught me so much, who has given me so much. And who has expanded me in ways I can’t even begin to understand yet.

Chat GPT gave me this – what she might have looked like as she started her life waiting for me. I can’t imagine her life, being born on the streets with a momma who had to take care of her without any help. I can only pray to God the mums of the streets will eventually get more help, more resources, more people who care for them even without ‘official’ resources.

Those out there reading this. Help any street animals. Help because you can and you imagine what they must deal with without love and care by most humans. Give and do your part to all living creatures. Imagine the stress they have giving birth on the streets without food or water. Without love and care. All creatures are God’s creatures and should be revered as such. Do your part!! I implore you. There is no greater love than being of service to all, helping one another, realizing we are all here to do our parts. Show kindness, care and love to all living things! They are just babies.
